Potty Woes & Wows

I got up at 3am this morning to find my 3 year old lying on a wet spot in my bed with his PJ soaked through. He’s wetted the bed again.

No fault of his. Mine rather, for I had fallen asleep next to him before putting his diapers on for him.

In the last couple of months, Yu has refused to allow me to wear a diaper on him at bedtime. “It’s so hot and itchy”, he protested.

I’ve tried changing his brand of disposables to a more premium and comfy one, with pictures of little Disney characters on them. It didn’t work.

I’ve tried putting his diapers on for him only when he is fast asleep. It works only occasionally. And on those occasions when it didn’t, I’ve had to stay up all night trying to put on the diaper, only to have him yank it off again and again!

I am now going to try the Bumwear cloth diapers, once I get the chance to go to the store at United Square. My fingers, and toes, are firmly crossed.

On a brighter note, little Yue, at 16 months, has surprised us all with his sudden ability to communicate his elimination needs.

It usually happens towards the end of a meal, when he would make a face and utter, “poo poo”. My domestic helper would then rush him to the toilet bowl, and he would do his business.

He has been accident-free for the last 1 week or so.

Oh, Yue, Mama is so proud of you!

how about using mamy poko pants?

i found these easy to slip on when the baby was sleeping, PLUS if he doesn’t have any “accidents”, it can be reused the following night…
